Welcome to the LQSET program, available in both Acc & Program versions.
LQSETAC accessory and LQSETPR program allows you to set the different print
styles on an Epson LQ printer. The accessory/program allows you to set the
pitch - Pica (10 cpi), Elite (12 cpi), Condensed (15 cpi) and Ultra Tiny
(17 cpi, superscript). You can also set the print styles, such as bold,
double strike, italics, LQ, or double wide. These effects can be combined
to produce other striking effects.
LQSET also allows you to set the left and right margins, lines per page and
line feed size. Other functions include sending a line or form feed,
initializing the printer, and a typewriter mode. The typewriter mode allows
you to enter line(s) of text, and they are immediately printed out. This is
good for things like addressing envelopes or making disk labels.
The remaining feature is somewhat confusing to use on an Epson LQ printer -
skip-over perforation. Selecting this feature from LQSET will NOT produce
the desired effect UNLESS the proper DIP switch is also set on your
printer. Please note that no printer control code will enable the skip-over
perforation unless the skip-over perforation DIP switch is enabled on the
printer. However, a printer control code can disable the skip-over
perforation function.
LQSET works in ST low, medium or high resolution. In high resolution, the
unreadable black square in the upper, left corner of the dialog box is only
the name of the accessory - it does not perform any printer control
function. The EPSONLQ.RSC resource file must be in the same directory as
the LQSET program.
I've included a lot of error trapping in LQSET, so the progam will not
stop dead in it's tracks or reboot the computer if the printer is off or
the resource file cannot be located. This program was based on the GEMINI
10x program by G. W. Moore, which was released in 1987. I've made
significant changes to the GEMINI program to allow it to function as an
accessory. The Personal Pascal 2 source code is included in this archive.
Praise, or bug reports, can be sent to N.WALKER3 (my fiance's account) on
GEnie, or Forrest Blood on the Jersey Atari Computer Society BBS at (609)
346-1224.
Have fun.
